Workshops at Nimbus 2010

CATIA V5

Nimbus 2010 in association with CADD-CENTRE Hamirpur organized a 20 hour workshop on CATIA V5.Worshop from 20th to 26th February. Followed by workshop there was be a competition called C.A.D. based on CATIA during NIMBUS.

Circuit Designing

This workshop covered everything necessary for the continued understanding of the much more advanced topics presented these days in various circuits and systems in use in the industry.
All those dealing with electronic circuit designs and development require knowledge of basic electronic components. In this workshop they were made familiar with commonly used active and passive electronic components and then made to work on circuit designing using the knowledge of components.
Students were taught the use of basic building blocks of electronic circuits using sensors, 555 timers, op-amp and other commonly used circuits in making projects.

Photography

It was a workshop all about Photography, camera, images and digital implications. A special interest of the participants was built towards Portrait, Landscape and Architecture.
An eminent speaker and instructor was available to answer questions during this two day
workshop.

Web Technologies and Web CMS : JOOMLA

The main aim of the workshop was to learn all about Latest Web Technologies and Web Content Management System (CMS) with Joomla implementation and to begin managing your our website like a professional. Participants were provided with instructions to build and manage their own new Joomla website. A live speaker and instructor was available to answer questions during this two day workshop.

Ethical Hacking

For the First Time in India, Innobuzz Knowledge Solutions in association with APOGEE, BITS Pilnai organized a workshop on Information Security and Ethical Hacking.

Ethical Hacking is a branch of computer technology known as information security as applied to computers and networks. The objective of computer security includes protection of information and property from theft, corruption, or unauthorized access, while allowing the information and property to remain accessible and productive to its intended users. The terms computer system security, means the collective processes and mechanisms by which sensitive and valuable information and services are protected from publication, tampering or collapse by unauthorized activities or untrustworthy individuals and unplanned events respectively. Exhibitions at Nimbus 2010

Timber Trail "Paddling in Air"

Transporting goods to and from an elevated height is a basic requirement in hilly regions. Not just at elevated heights, but at times transportation of horticulture produce and other essential goods across the valleys and rivers is essential in higher Himalayan regions.
Timber trail as the name suggests is a mode of transport of goods. It is basically a ropeway which is a popular and cheap mode of transportation of goods in hilly areas using motors as drive. But here in this project we are replacing the electric motor by a complete mechanical driver so that the electricity constrained is detached which makes it a better option in rural areas where electricity is still a problem.

Motorama

It was a mini auto expo, which went a step ahead and included vehicle stripping. From the nifty bits of an internal combustion engine to the glamour of expo floor, we had it all.

Participant Companies: TATA, Hero Honda.
Stripping: "Hero Honda Hunk" as the expert dismantled it to the smallest bit.

Smart Sensors

Many times simple principles lie behind the most complex things in this world. Automatic doors, burglar alarms, fire alarms, face recognition systems; touch sensors- all these devices seem to be very complex. But their principle is nothing more than a simple circuits called the sensor.
SMART SENSORS was a demonstration of various types of sensors which have always fascinated us. Right from the simple clap sensor to the principle of automatic robots which can sense the obstacles-it’s all about the sensors. Lasting throughout the three days of NIMBUS’10, it showed all the aspects of the sensor technology and provided an insight to this very interesting field.

Concretion

The go-green future welcomes innovation of crib retaining walls. Concretion was an exploring display of this extravagant and rare piece of art, engineering and innovation.

Aeromodelling

On a windy day lets go flying
There may be no trees to rest on
There may be no clouds to ride
But well have our wings and wind will be with us
Thats enough for me thats enough for me
-Yoko Ono

For long men have envied birds... Nimbus feeled this never ending lust of men for flying through the demonstration of aero model as Amandeep Katria’s plane soared over everyone’s head giving a hard to be matched by any other dope.

Corona Discharge

This time at Nimbus 2010 Corona discharge was back...bigger and better than its previous avatar which no one had even seen...This Nimbus, all the folks saw lightening brought to earth, through artificially. All the fear, inspiration, awe!! Call it whatever but the beauty and majesty of its display still enthral many.

Green Hostel campaign

Save today survive tomorrow.
We've embarked on the beginning of the last days of the age of oil and the bottom of the oil barrel is now visible. Embrace the future and recognize the growing demand for a wide range of fuels or ignore reality and slowly, but surely, be left behind. So, next time when you fling the lights open or keep the tap running do remember that we can create a more sustainable, cleaner and safer world by making wiser energy choices. Keeping this feeling of green in our mind, Nimbus witnessed the first ever green hostel campaign, where the different hostels fought out for being the most eco-friendliest of the lot. As it is often said, Charity begins at home.

Defence Exhibition

Nimbus 2010 in association with N.C.C. 1 H.P. Naval Unit, Bilaspur presented the Defence Exhibition where engineers explored:
Naval Ship Models.
Remote Controlled Ship in artificial poundage.
Gunnery Display of dismantling of automated Rifles and Guns.

Star Gazing at Nimbus 2010

“They shine, they twinkle, and burn in fiery glory.”
The cosmos is more happening than the earth and NIMBUS witnessed this up-close. On the three nights of the tech fest, the whole of the techno geek population of the country gathered with all their friends under the umbrella of constellations, planets and satellites to experience the night life of our universe.

The Nimbus Marathon

It was time to get hip and happening. On 12th MARCH 2010, Nimbus witnessed the most creative vibrant and outrageous fashion statement this town had ever seen, the NIMBUS MARATHON.

World over marathons are revered for the emotional connect that they establish in the hearts and minds of the citizens. A marathon provides the city with a platform to come together in a celebration that cuts across social and economic barriers. It brings together the common man, the corporate czar, the politician, the socialite and the physically challenged onto one platform. It is an event that stirs the conscience of every citizen, encouraging them to reach out in aid of a cause or charity.

The Nimbus Marathon was a great success with over 200 participants which included students, correction engineers from almost every corner of the country.

P.A.R.I.K.R.A.M.A. at Nimbus 2010

Keeping with the throbbing pulse of the times and igniting the magnificent jazz harmonies, NIMBUS 2010 witnessed a once in a lifetime musical extravaganza. A live performance by P.A.R.I.K.R.A.M.A. a leading Indian rock and roll band on the night of March 15, 2010 sizzled the technical environment of the institute. The bundles of energy were unscrambled and the floor was set abuzz with the never dying beats.

It is but a way of life for these six, going this way ever since that summer afternoon in Delhi. JUNE 17th, 1991. They named it PARIKRAMA ... literal Hindi means revolving around.. encircling. In essence, "KARMA"..., living our lives doing what one ought to, keeping to one's own chosen path, and on and on. Them were either out of the same school, into the same college, whistling similiar tunes, or sharing brains. It has been so, all these years, it probably will be so awhile. Small wonder then, if you see the same old faces. It only keeps getting rockier and rolliest. Especially the ones that are dished out with that screeching violin or ones that begin with about thirty fiery balls of fire, not in one bang, but a million colors ... so to say :)
